     Ahipara Horse Treks is a locally owned and operated business. We are located in Ahipara, at the base of Ninety Mile Beach, just 10 minutes drive west of Kaitaia.

    .

    We provide a variety of trek options along one of New Zealand’s most beautiful west coast beaches, and your experience may include (where practical) gently rolling grasslands and the excitement of ocean riding. 

    .

    Our horses are very safe and suitable for all ages and riding abilities, allowing you to enjoy the stunning scenery accompanied by our friendly and experienced guides!

    ONE HOUR TREK - $90.00 PER RIDER

    90 Minute Trek - $110.00 PER RIDER

    TWO HOUR TREK - $140.00 PER RIDER

    Walk to the Beach - $70 per Child

    Pony Paddock Ride - $25 per Child

    SUMMER SPECIALS

    SUNSET RIDE - $150.00 PER RIDER

  • CUSTOMISED TREK OPTIONS are be available on request.

    These can include:

    ~ Paddock rides or shorter treks for young children

    ~ Rides for large groups or School Groups

    ~ Longer, more challenging rides - experience is necessary and essential

  • We operate year round (weather dependent) so contact us now to book your horseback experience!

    BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL

    Due to the nature of our horses that we have available, we have a WEIGHT LIMIT of 95kg

    .

    A minimum of $20 deposit per rider (or $50 per booking) is required to secure your booking unless otherwise negotiated.

SUMMER SPECIALS

  • Swim Ride

    SWIM RIDE

    Bring the kids for a fun time with the Ponies - and often featuring our mini horses Peter Paint and Benji Button!

    $90 per person, minimum booking of 2 people.

    Meet us at Ahipara Horse Treks, and help lead the horses and ponies to the beach.

    Run and play along the beach with them until we get to our destination - about a 15min walk.

    Bring a picnic and bring your togs. Here, the kids can tail surf on the ponies and play with them in the water - the horses love this especially in the heat of summer!

  • SUNSET RIDE

    Last summer was a scorcher and this one isn't any different!

    Book your spot for 2023 summer now as this popular ride really is the best time to come and enjoy a 90 minute beach ride with us and some spectacular colours!

    In the evenings the heat isn’t so bad and the colours of the sunset over the Tasman Sea are amazing! It makes for some amazing photos to remember your experience with!

  • BYO HORSE TREKS

    $$ - Price varies

    We can organise 2-3 day rides for experienced horse riders only, where you can enjoy the fabulous views and experiences in the Far North from the comfort of your own horse!

    If you have a group interested, feel free to message us to arrange your own dates!

    - we occasionally have horses available for hire if required.

  • WEDDINGS

    What better way to make your special day that extra bit special than to ride down the aisle on a Unicorn!

    .

    Ok, maybe not quite a unicorn (they’re actually pretty hard to find) but we have a range of horses available to hire for your big day!

    .

    Horses are groomed until they shine and accessories can be discussed.

    $700 for one horse

    $1000 for two horses

    - $500 for any additional horses after that, mileage additional after the first 30km.

  • KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTIES

    Our two miniature ponies,

    Benji Button and Peter Paint,

    absolutely love being the centre of attention at Kid's Birthday Parties.

    Activities include: grooming, cuddles and playing with the ponies and of course pny rides - helmets are supplied.

    $ 200 per event

    for up to two hours.

    Travel cost additional if not in Ahipara.
